Mediation in Nottingham
Here at Midlands Dove we offer advice and mediation services for families, employers and employees, landlords and tenants and neighbours who would like to rectify any issues or problems they’re experiencing.
Our dedicated team of mediation specialists can assist in these situations by being a legal representative to ensure that the mediation process is done correctly and in such a way that it is mutually beneficial for all participants.
Family mediation is suitable for resolving problems and issues in families that can occur as a result of debt, separation or any other family dispute. Our family mediation services are suitable for married couples, divorcing couples and co-habiting couples as well as families with children.
Family mediation relies on all participants attending the mediation sessions. Our specialist team at Midlands Dove understand this and can (therefore) arrange for our family mediation services to take place in various environments at flexible time to ensure all parties are able to participate.
We can also assist families when it comes to MIAM, Child Arrangements and Family Remedy Orders. To find out more about Family Mediation in Nottingham visit our service page for details on the process, location and cost.
Civil and Commercial mediation aims to resolve any disputes that occur between two or more parties. Civil mediation differs from family mediation in the fact that it can be applied to a myriad of disputes outside of family troubles.
Civil mediation can also be a more cost efficient and less stressful method of resolving tensions between parties than going to court. Here at Midlands Dove our mediation services are non-biased and allow the participating parties to be in control of the process thus ensuring that the interests of both parties are taken into account.

Workplace mediation is recommended when employers are having issues resolving problems and tensions in the workplace. Our workplace mediation services are most useful when workplace tensions are creating negative relationships, lowering morale or when employees are required to work together and are unable to do so.
Workplace mediation is a voluntary process that will allow all participants to express themselves privately and discuss how they wish to proceed. This ensures that all parties have a chance to discuss any issues as they see them which is one of the benefits of workplace mediation.
Our workplace mediation services can be beneficial to both employers and employees, which will help restore balance to the workplace and create a more positive working environment. What is Mediation?
Mediation is a neutral and non-court based process that is about working together with a trained mediator to come up with mutually agreeable solutions. We find that mediation is ideally suited to those who are able to cooperate amicably throughout the process.
You will meet with an impartial mediator in Nottingham (or at any location to suit your needs) and have as many mediation meetings necessary to come up with the solution you want. Mediation is often cheaper and quicker than going through the Courts as, very often, only a couple of sessions are required. Legal Aid is still available if you are eligible.
Mediation is most commonly used for relationship breakdown and family issues, but it can help resolve all kinds of disputes including those between neighbours, or in the workplace. Midlands Mediation provide family mediation, civil and commercial mediation, and workplace mediation in the Nottingham, Nottinghamshire area. Find out more about the Mediation process with our Mediation FAQ’s.
The Mediation Process
The first stage for Family Mediation is to attend a Mediation Information Assessment Meeting (MIAM) with one of our qualified Mediator Assessors. This meeting is usually free and at separate times for each individual. For anyone considering the more traditional solicitor based route; please note that the MIAM is now compulsory to prove to the Court that you have at least considered mediation before issuing financial or children applications in Court.
During the MIAM, we will explain the options available to you and assess whether Legal Aid may be available. If you decide to proceed with mediation in Nottingham, we will book your first mediation meeting with one of our fully accredited mediators. Please remember that the mediator’s role in this is neutral; they are not there to decide who is right and who is wrong.
We offer ‘shuttle mediation’ in the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire area. This is where each person meets with their mediator at the same time, but in separate rooms. The mediator goes between rooms on your behalf in order to discuss and resolve your issues.
Once you have been through mediation and have agreed your outcomes, you can have them turned into a formal legal ‘Settlement Agreement’ via a solicitor. Our mediators in Nottingham are also solicitors, and they can guide you through the legal elements of the process, but they are unable to give legal advice – so you will need to seek legal advice independently.
If you are eligible for Legal Aid during your mediation then your legal advice element will also be free through your solicitor.
